18th Street Brewery is one of the largest breweries in northwest Indiana and was named as the #1 Best Brewpub by USAToday’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2019.
Their 32,000 square foot location houses a taproom, production, packaging, barrel program, and a full-service kitchen.
It’s the perfect place to stop in for a bite and a brew and absorb their uniquely-decorated interior while you’re there and maybe even take a selfie.
After hosting their popular and second brewpub, downtown Hammond, Indiana at 5417 Oakley Ave., (touting their 2013 the award-winning craft brewery) they moved to their current and with a much larger facility.
Their beginnings were a 4,000-square-foot building in Gary Indiana, in the Miller neighborhood where they keep the Miller brewpub open. Although 18th Street Brewery had grown too big to continue its brewing operations in Miller, the brewpub remains open there Tuesdays through Sundays.
The Hammond location expands their distribution which includes a canning operation that enables them to distribute farther throughout Northwest Indiana and the rest of the state. The Hammond, Indiana location has a larger kitchen. Each location has a different menu, with a lot of local, seasonal ingredients.
In 2014 RateBeer granted 18th Street the first ever to take home the best new brewer in Indiana award. The popular brewery has collaborated on beers with Three Floyds and other breweries, which was named the best newcomer in the state by RateBeer. Eveyone is involved with the business including the owner’s (Drew Fox) wife.
The Hammond location is a part of the on the Southshore Brewery Trail that just launched it’s own brewery app. 18th Street’s Hammond location has eight beers on tap, including a nitro beer and a cask beer to be available every Friday.
The Hammond brewpub will be open noon until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Noon til midnight Friday & Saturday; and Noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Their website is www.18thstreetbrewery.com
