Great Backyard Bird Count

The Great Backyard Bird Count is Feb 14th – 17th, 2020! This 23rd annual event is somewhat of a misnomer, since you can count birds wherever you spot them, not only in your backyard! This week look for several shared posts featuring the Great Backyard Bird Count, Feb. 14-17 no matter where you live in the U.S. Read more and sign up for this fun, free and easy event at gbbc.birdcount.org/

The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a free, fun, and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes (or as long as they wish) on one or more days of the four-day event and report their sightings online at birdcount.org.

Anyone can take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count, from beginning bird watchers to experts, and you can participate from your backyard, or anywhere in the world.

Winter is an excellent time of year to view eagles and other raptors. Binoculars and spotting scopes allow people to obtain great views of these birds without getting too close and disturbing them.
