The Midwest Sundowners is a model airplane club focusing on radio-controlled aircraft; located in Wheeler, Indiana. Their next special flying event, Pylon Races, will take place on Saturday August 29th 2026. There is NO CHARGE for spectators and parking is FREE too! Their wonderfully delicious hamburgers will be served starting at noon.
Pilots will race around a course that uses 3 poles (or pylons) for 10 laps. Fastest time wins and pilots must not cut (turn inside) a pylon to be legal.
Several different classes, based on engine sizes, including electric powered planes will be competing. We typically attract racers from all around the Midwest.
It promises to be an exciting day of racing. Be sure to attend, all spectators are welcome and admission is FREE!
Whether you’re a seasoned pilot or just starting out, this event is perfect for all enthusiasts. Watch as skilled pilots showcase their flying skills in intense race around poles with their RC airplanes.
Don’t miss out on this exciting event! Come Out and Watch this Flying Contest as the Pilots Compete for first place in each class.
