Local Celebrity Got Started In Entertainment At the Age of 3!

For Northwest Indiana’ s Mark Edward Wilows growing up in Hollywood but remaining true to his roots has always been important. Wilows hails from the South side of Chicago and has called NWI his home for 26 years.

“I always tell everyone that I have the best of both worlds,” Wilows explains. “I get to leave the bright lights behind for cows by the roadside.

Wilows, who is in his 50’s has been in entertainment since three years old. Starting with a Mc Donald’s commercial and one thing led to another. Wilows was always animated and personable even has a child in a stroller. Today he is a very likeable guy and would give you the shirt off his back when it comes to helping.

At the advice of a neighbor telling his mother ‘He ought to be in pictures’ his mom took it seriously. A snapshot was sent to an agency in Chicago and the rest is history. At five years old and for the next six years, Wilows starred in commercials. He has worked at every major studio in Hollywood including Paramount.

Wilows won an award in Los Angeles for Outstanding Child in a commercial. The award was given by Lucille Ball who told his dad ‘This kid is going to go places’. it was there he knew the entertainment business was for him.

“I believe Yes!! I found it fascinating. Like any business or profession, you have to pursue it.” Wilows said. “I mentor some people who only tell me they want to be an actor and drop out for whatever reason, or someone new comes into their life changing their whole personality. I’ve seen it happen. It is sad. What is even sadder is that they allow that to happen. My belief is the dream never dies.”

Wilows has worked all facets of the entertainment business. He acted, produced, directed, hosted his own TV talk show and appeared on two daytime dramas. has and is still on the radio and still doing commercials, as well as hosting a Podcast called “Gabbin’ Cabin” on all platforms. He also does public relations work for many top name stars and loves being an agent finding people work in TV.

Currently Wilows is producing a Christian film, something he always wanted to do. The film centers around a young boy with a terminal illness who meets Jesus that takes him on a journey.

Wilows loves the “not knowing” part of the business. “I love the thrill of the excitement. You never know where it can go or lead.” he said. “I love that every day is an adventure and the exciting places this career can take you.”

Wilows will be a judge at the Northwest Indiana Talent Show on March 23rd at the Mascot Hall of Fame.
