Residents of Northwest Indiana can find stellar entertainment like they have never seen before at the NWI Talent Show on Thursday, March 23rd at 6:30 pm – 9pm at the Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting Indiana. See Magician KALITA, who is the world’s only Extricationist (an escape Artist in addition to a magician,) who will be appearing on WGN TV Morning Show at 9am (again) on March 2nd 2023. With experience in Las Vegas as part of his background, KALITA is a unique and well known Northwest Indiana stage act.
Magician KALITA once offered the cash to a local father and son if they could successfully use a long piece of rope to tie him up beyond escape. It took over ten minutes to tie up the magician but took less than four minutes for him to escape. KALITA has appeared on a magic man from LaPorte Indiana who has performed his craft several times on Chicago’s WGN-TV.
Many times KALITA also performs straitjacket-escape stunts. KALITA pulled off an escape hanging upside down from the Franklin Street bridge in Michigan City to show his support for the Chicago Cubs’ bid for a World Series championship. It took only six minutes for him to break free of the jacket and once he did, KALITA while still dangling from a rope around his ankles over Trail Creek, released a banner stating “Go Cubs.”
KALITA’s 19-year-old daughter, Mya, is sometimes the subject for his daring illusions, in addition to acting as an onstage assistant. “She’s been helping me since she’s been 2 years old,” said Kalita, who is known professionally as an extricationist with the all-capitals name KALITA.
The Nwi Talent Show will be an evening of LIVE music, uproarious Comedy, extraordinary Dance, enticing Vocals, and some outlandish surprises. Be prepared to vote for your home town cause it’s a “Battle of Municipalities” adding a friendly competition amongst various towns and cities which adds a new component to the audience participation. Craft beer and a full liquor bar and food are available for purchase.
And, don’t let the location fool you. Mascot Hall of Fame turns itself in to a night club at night and a kid’s playground during the day. This promises to be an evening you will not soon forget. You might be a winner of a door prize too!

Becky Mateja Lombardini from Vision Quest had the idea and vision to create the Nwi Talent Show and wanted it to be in her home town at the Mascot Hall of Fame sponsored by Notre Dame Credit Union. Becky is the Creator, Producer, and Emcee. The Talent Show efforts were then combined with Sue Baxter from PanoramaNOW Entertainment news, who has to ability to get out a strong message, and is providing the promotion, and is one of the judges.
