German Restaurant and Sports Entertainment Center Coming to Valparaiso Indiana

First on the agenda for the Monday August 25th, 2025 Valparaiso City Council meeting was a resolution approving the second distributions of opioid settlement funds. The city will be receiving just over 1.4 million in entirety with yearly disbursements. This year’s total amount given out was $346,870 dollars. The recipients included the Moraine House, The Caring Place, Community Change Center, Valparaiso Community Schools, PACT and the Valparaiso Police Department, among others. The settlement funds will go towards the prevention and treatment of opioid addiction.

Next was a resolution recommending a new liquor license be issued to Alpen Haus and The Golf Lodge at 13 &15 Washington street downtown. Alpen Haus with German cuisine and The Golf Lodge with sports games. Eatertainment is the concept, they are purchasing both buildings and will knock the wall down between the two, with one side being the Alpen Haus and the other side being simulation sports games like golf, football, baseball, zombie dodge ball and dartsee. They are anticipating opening early in 2026.

There was another liquor license on the agenda, this one an amendment. Radius, an established downtown restaurant, is looking to expand into a new location. They will remain open until the new location is ready at the north east corner of Lincolnway and Franklin. The amendment to his license was to allow transfer to a new location.
