The City of Crown Point is looking to transform East hack Court into an open-air pedestrian gateway, leading residents and visitors to the southeast side of downtown.
The project will include closing East Hack Court to motorists to allow for the creation of an “al Fresco Dining” area and a community placemaking area. At it’s core, the project will beautify the overall area to create a new gathering place.
In recent years, the southeast side of the square has undergone a major transformation, becoming a lively addition to the historic downtown district with various eateries and retail stores.
Nearly 20 years ago, the City unveiled a new pedestrian gateway on the east side of the square. Parry Court officially opened as a walkway in November 2006. At the time, City officials deemed Parry Court as the key to a pedestrian-friendly downtown.
Today, Parry Court offers al Fresco Dining at Provecho and allows people to access the heart of downtown from East Street.
The City hopes to recreate a similar atmosphere at Hack Court. The Project is set to break ground in 2024.
