Crown Point Opens Car Cruise, Concert Series And Farmers Market

     The weekly Crown Point Farmers Market returns Saturday, May 25, to the Franciscan Health Pavilion at Bulldog Park, located at 183 S. West St. The farmers market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday beginning May 25 through Sept. 28.
      This year, the market will feature more than 70 vendors, ranging from artisans and crafters to bakers and farmers. For a complete list of vendors, visit www.crownpoint.in.gov/373/Farmers Market 
      “Since opening applications over the winter, we have received an overwhelming response from vendors. We have nearly 80 vendors this year, with a handful of vendors on a waiting list,” said Special Events Director Diana Bosse. “We are excited for another year of welcoming artisans, farmers and vendors from across Northwest Indiana and beyond.”

      The farmers market offers something for everyone. On select days, the Southlake YMCA will offer outdoor yoga from 9-10 a.m. on the artificial field in front of the Franciscan Health Amphitheater at Bulldog Park. There will be no yoga May 25, June 1 or July 20.
      The Lakeside Artists Guild will perform at the market on May 25, June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 14 and Sept. 28.
      The market will move to the front parking lot of Wheeler Middle School on Saturday, June 1, due to the Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce Corn Roast.
     There will not be a farmers market on Saturday, July 20, due to The Taste of Crown Point.
      The market will close at noon on June 22, Aug. 17, Aug. 24 and Sept. 14. The market will remain open until 2 p.m. June 29, July 6, Aug. 10 and Aug. 31.

    — The weekly Crown Point Car Cruise returns for the 2024 season Thursday, June 6, at Bulldog Park, located at 183 S. West St.
     The Crown Point Car Cruise will be held from 4-8 p.m. every Thursday from June 6 through Sept. 26. The car cruise will feature weekly food vendors and live entertainment on select dates. Like last year, car cruise participants should arrive at Bulldog Park no earlier than 4 p.m. Cars will not be allowed to enter the pavilion before 4 p.m.
    Visitor parking will not be permitted in the Chase Bank parking lot before 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., only visitors are permitted to park in the lot. No classic car parking is permitted in the Chase Bank parking lot.
     The West Street municipal lot and the Bulldog Park parking lot will be open for car cruise attendees. “The car cruise marks the beginning of summer for Crown Point, and we can’t wait to welcome the community back to Bulldog Park to see classic cars and enjoy music from local bands,” Special Events Director Diana Bosse said. “We’re looking forward to partnering with Wittenberg Village and Crown Antique Mall to host the car cruise at new locations for the community to enjoy.”
     The car cruise will move to Wittenberg Village, 1150 E. Luther Drive, July 18 and Sept. 5, and to Crown Antique Mall, 545 E. 110th Ave., June 27, July 11 and Aug. 1. On the days the car cruise is at Crown Antique Mall, it will begin at 2 p.m.

     A portion of the City of Crown Point’s Summer Concert Series will take place during the car cruise, with Joe Cantafio and Kenny James & Rave On, “A Tribute to Buddy Holly,” set to kick off the 2024 series on June 6.       The car cruise also will feature seasonal vendors Coffee Bar, Crown Creamery and Damo’s Dogs. The Cheesy Food Truck will be at the car cruise June 20, July 25, Aug. 15 and Sept. 26.
