Dunes Learning Center invites the public to become campers with an afternoon of family fun in nature on a Saturday in the Middle of January each year from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
This free event offers indoor and outdoor activities led by the center’s team of knowledgeable naturalists. Guided hikes, crafts, nature games, and live music, as well as opportunities to learn about winter ecology through hands-on education programs, will be offered throughout the day.
“This is a great way for the public to explore our Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore campus in winter and experience firsthand the acclaimed naturalist-led programs that are usually only available to visiting classrooms,” said Geof Benson, executive director of Dunes Learning Center. “We can all benefit from being a kid for a day!”
Hot cocoa and cookies will be served. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. Space is limited. For more information and to register, visit DunesLearningCenter.org/events. Follow Dunes Learning Center on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Event partners and sponsors include ArcelorMittal, BP, Enbridge, Friends of Indiana Dunes, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and NIPSCO. Arts activities made possible, in part, with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, South Shore Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
