Get out of the cold and enjoy a screening of a national park or outdoor-themed film at Indiana Dunes National Park. The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education will have movie screenings on Saturday, January 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
The series begins on January 4th with “Shifting Sands – On the Path to Sustainability.” This award-winning documentary traces the history of the efforts to preserve the Indiana Dunes and the broader sustainability efforts along Lake Michigan’s southern shore.
January 11, brings a 60-minute film, “Clean Energy Revolution,” preceded by an Earth Day 2020 Teach-in workshop from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Both events are free, but please register by calling the center at 219-395-1824.
On Saturday, January 18, celebrate Martin Luther King Day a little early with a film selection that includes Dr. King’s 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, DC.
Learn about the declining population of native bees on January 25, by watching the 34-minute film, “Vanishing of the Bees.” However, you can also learn how the rich diversity of habitats at Indiana Dunes help support a variety of specialized bee populations.
Squirrels, love them or hate them, are entertaining to watch. The film “Nature: A Squirrels Guide to Success” will be the featured film at the Douglas Center on February 1st.
