GARY, IND., June 6, 2026 — Miller Community Theatre is excited to present Urinetown: The Musical, the Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation that combines outrageous comedy, unforgettable music, and surprisingly relevant social commentary into one unforgettable theatrical experience.
Set in a future plagued by a devastating water shortage, private toilets have been outlawed and citizens must pay a fee to use public amenities controlled by the powerful Urine Good Company. When a young hero dares to challenge the system, a revolution begins that forces everyone to question authority, justice, and the true cost of freedom. Despite its unusual title, Urinetown has become one of the most celebrated musicals of the modern era. Winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, the show cleverly satirizes politics, corporate greed, environmental concerns, and even musical theatre itself.
Directed by Michael Finchum, Miller Community Theatre’s production features a talented cast of local performers bringing this witty and wildly entertaining story to life. Audiences can expect energetic musical numbers, laugh-out-loud comedy, and a production that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. “Miller Community Theatre is proud to present this story with an outstanding group of artists who are joining us from all over Northwest Indiana.” said Michael Finchum. “Don’t let the title fool you, the show is full of laughter, heart, and joy.”
Urinetown will be performed at Marshall J. Gardener Center for the Arts, located in the heart of Miller. Performances run July 10,11,17,18, and 19th with both evening and matinee performances available.
