Dr. Ungar, from Merrillville, the US Coast Guard, state and local first responders conducted law enforcement drills near on the Ohio River, near Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 11th, 2025.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, Cincinnati Fire and Police, Anderson Township Fire, Hamilton County Dive Team and Sheriff, Boone County Water Rescue, Covington Fire and Police, Kenton County Northern Kentucky SWAT, Wilder Fire, Bellevue/Dayton Fire, Lawrenceburg Fire, Maysville Fire, Ludlow Fire, Union County Fire, and Mason County Sheriffโs Office.
The purpose of the drills was to enhance maritime incident response for both law enforcement and fire/rescue agency personnel who may respond to a maritime incident occurring along the Ohio River regional area.
The drills included a wide range of boat tactics and emergency response procedures. Drills will include multiple agency responder boats displaying flashing lights operating near a passenger vessel on the Ohio River mile marker.
โIt was a lot of fun, and I got to meet a lot of new people, and learned a lot about water craft medical response tactics,โ stated Dr. Ungar.
