The holidays are just around the corner and Chicago Street Theatre’s offering a little something for everyone with a family production of A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail and a grown-up presentation of The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical. The shows will kick-off with the opening of the family musical on Friday, November 18 and the adult comedy entering the rotation of performances on Friday, November 25. With the theatre’s past success of double features like Junie B. Jones The Musical/ Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) and Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells Batman Smells/The Santaland Diaries, the nonprofit, volunteer driven company wanted to continue the tradition of offering audiences two different kinds of holiday experiences.
Tickets for all performances are $20 for adults and $17 for Students/Seniors/Military/ and Groups of ten or more. The theatre also offers the availability of four VIP Couch Seats in the front row that are $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased for all shows throughout the 2016/2017 Season by calling the CST Box Office at 219-464-1636 X1 or going online to ChicagoStreet.org. Box Office hours are Tuesdays through Saturday from Noon to 4 PM and two hours prior to show times. Schools and other organizations should make arrangements through the ticket office for all group sales.
For audiences young and young at heart comes A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail by James W. Rodgers. Based on the books of A.A. Milne, this holiday musical features delightful songs with the beloved characters of the Hundred-Acre Woods and is directed by Donald R. Beck & Kari-Anne Innes with music direction by Taylor Fleming. In this stage adaptation from the author and composer of It’s a Wonderful Life: The Musical, Christopher Robin is told about the holiday (not so long ago) when Eeyore lost his tail. Full of enchanting songs along with favorites: Pooh Bear, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga and Tigger, A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail is the perfect holiday treat to introduce your little ones to the magic of theatre.
Performances run November 18 through December 18 with shows at 7PM on November 18 & 19 and December 2. Earlier presentations are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM on November 19, 26 & 27 and December 3, 10, 11,17, and 18. 5PM shows are Saturdays November 26 and December 3, 10, and 17 giving the community lots of opportunities to see what are often SOLD-OUT performances for Chicago Street during the holidays.
