Fourth Street Theater, Chesterton has selected eight 10-Minute Plays for their 10 Minute Play Festival! Out of over 300 entries submitted, this 2024 find out which plays were selected

WHEN STARS FADE
By Michael Thomas
Director: Thomas Olsen
Synopsis: Years after the Peter Pan story, Peter Pan wants to go on another adventure with the Lost Boys.
· Peter: 60s to 90s, full of adventure.
· Tootles: 60s to 90s, loyal to Peter.
· Cubby: 60s to 90s, succumbing to their age.
(This play is dedicated to George Maslankowski)
 
PONCE DE LEÓN AND THE OLD DOG

Directed by: Jerry Golvidis
SYNOPSIS: When a student submits a paper written by AI, will her professor come to terms with his new role in the educational system or will his administrator send him on a permanent sabbatical?
CHARACTERS
· JIM male, late-60’s to mid-70’s. A junior college professor of literature.
· RITA female, late-60’s to mid-70’s. A junior college administrator.
This play is dedicated to Nancy, John, Walt, Sharon, and Beverly.
 
RENT-A-STIFF

Synopsis: Mr Ut runs a company called Rent-a-Stiff, a human taxidermy specialist. But now there is competition in town.
Characters
· MR. UT The Grim Renter, male (pronounced UH-t, as in “hut”)
· IVAN Mr. Ut’s Assistant, male/female
· FRAN KINSTEIN Owner of Lease the Deceased, female
 
CARTHAGO DELENDA EST

Synopsis: A praetorian is expecting a visit from the Caesar. He finds out last minute that the centurion under his command has missed understood the instructions that they had been given by Caesar.
Characters – (Gender, race, and age are not designated by the playwright.)
· The Praetorian: A territorial ruler of the Roman Empire. Starts the scene with a small scroll.
· The Servant: The wise and faithful assistant to the PRAETORIAN. Starts the scene with a bowl of grapes, and a small refuse bag (or brown paper bag).
· The Centurion: The battle-worn leader of the foreign war. Starts off-stage. Enters the scene later with one or more absurdly huge bags dragging behind them.
· The Caesar: Leader of all Rome. Wears a crown of laurels. Carries a bowl of grapes. Starts off stage.
 
IT IS WHAT IT IS

Synopsis: A pleasant suburban housewife receives a visit from the Homeowners Association hit lady.
Characters:
· DONNA – 30s-50s. A sweet blonde suburban housewife. Always tries to see the good side in everyone.
· ANGELA – 30s-50s. An Italian-American from Pennsylvania. Chatty, helpful and friendly, notwithstanding her job as a hired assassin.
· HENRY – 30s-50s. Donna’s husband. Seemingly meek to the point of subservience, with a voice not unlike the cartoon character Droopy. But Henry’s innocence cannot withstand a great deal of scrutiny.
 
THE MIMES AND MUMMERS CONVENTION

GOING HOME

Synopsis: Jeen and Zannie are married. When Jeen ends up in a Miami hospital following a second stroke, they both must confront the realities of the situation and what lies ahead. A story about the moments we wish we could take back.
 
· JEEN, 40s+ Any gender or ethnicity. former I.T. Specialist, diabetic, heart issues. Married to Zannie. Has aphasia from a previous stroke and cannot find the right word at times. Sometimes speaks with ease, other times struggles.
· ZANNIE, 40s+ Any gender or ethnicity. Teacher, married to JEEN. Has been their caregiver for several months. Talkative.
