World Civility Day Returns April 27th

      The 6th annual World Civility Day event on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 hosted by Community Civility Counts. A full-day of civility-themed activities will be held during the Day from 9am – 3pm at will be held at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center and an awards dinner in the evening and Avalon Manor in Merrillville at 6pm. Cost for the workshops is only $30 for adults and $15 for students.

      The Gary Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event, has a “stellar lineup of speakers” planned.  oin the Gary Chamber Of Commerce for the only event of its kind in the country. Community Civility Counts will hold its 6th annual World Civility Day events on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.  

     Community Civility Counts started as an initiative of the Gary Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee and it has expanded to include many partners both locally and nationally. It was launched in 2015 at a press conference held in the Gary Chamber board room.

     All five of the World Civility Day events, have sold out with at least 300 people from Indiana, Illinois and nine other states and 15 countries. Some of the most notable past keynote speakers have been: Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers, iChange Nations, Dr. Carolyn Lukensmeyer, Executive Director of the National Institute for Civil Discourse, U.S. Congressman Frank J. Mrvan, Senator Todd Young, Senator Mike Braun, and Karrah Herring Chief Equity, Inclusion & Opportunity Official for the State of Indiana at the evening awards ceremony.

     World Civility Day on April 27, 2022 will include a kickoff, workshops and lunch at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center. Workshop themes will include civility in our day to day interactions, the classroom and workplace civility. The evening dinner, held at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville, will include our featured keynote speaker and the annual Community Civility Counts awards.

    VIP tickets, which include full-day access and dinner, are $90; Dinner Tickets are $70; and Workshop Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 per student.

Greeted by goodie bags, dj, and servers with shrimp cocktail/deviled eggs, and people galore, the hospitality suite was buzzing.  Is that prime rib, chefs salad, balsamic capresi–keto bandito!  And next to a cake display with vanilla cream cupcakes was a full service drink station with a specialty greenish drink–Batter Up.  A five star restaurant event you might think.  Well it was a 5 star event, the Rail Cats Pre Season 2022-Meet and Greet, with catering from the Gary Area Career Center students orchestrated by Chef.   Continue Reading. . .
