**** Recommended Porchlight Music Theatre has a habit of doing oversized musicals on a seriously undersized stage. They usually pull it off quite well, but with their new production, “In the Heights”, space became a factor. They just didn’t seem to have enough space for all of the choreography. On the other hand, the voices were fabulous! “In the Heights” has infectious music and movement. You’ll be dancing in your seat to the vibrant salsa rhythms. 3 ½ Spotlights.
“In the Heights” runs through October 23rd at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, Chicago. Running time is 2 hours, 15 minutes, with an intermission. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm; Fridays at 8:00 pm; Saturdays at 4:00 and 8:00 pm; Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets range from $43-$51. Valet parking is available.
