Valpo International Center’s Fourth Friday’s Return

The Valparaiso International Center (The VIC) is excited to resume its Fourth Friday Speaker Series, which will feature a timely presentation about Ukraine, on Friday January 27th, at 7 pm.  The Fourth Friday series is held monthly at Trinity Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall, 201 N. Washington, Valparaiso.

Dr. Myron I. Lewyckyj, a local ophthalmologist in Valparaiso, makes frequent trips to Ukraine to do surgical mission work. Dr.  Lewyckyj will speak about the life and culture, current situation in the country and his annual medical mission trips. He is the creator of Tryzub Ukrainian Kitchen in Chicago.

The VIC’s Fourth Friday is a monthly series of presentations and discussions about various international cultures.  The speakers are natives of the subject country or have some special expertise to offer.  Recent talks have covered Iran, Russia, Canada, Uruguay, and Ghana.

“The VIC’s mission is to create an environment that brings people from across the globe together by promoting a community that is understanding of different cultures,” said Board Chair Hugh McGuigan.  “All our sponsored programming works toward that goal, including our signature event, the World Cultural Festival, now in its fourteenth year, which will be held on September 15th, 2023 at Central Park Plaza in Valparaiso.”

The Fourth Friday presentation on Ukraine is a family-friendly event open to all members of the community and free of charge.
