Valparaiso Mandates Mask Requirements

Valparaiso Supports Mask Mandate to Begin July 27
The City of Valparaiso reminds the community of the statewide mask mandate, beginning Monday, July 27 as announced by Governor Eric Holcomb. “The health and well-being of our community remains our top priority.
Since the onset of this pandemic, we have relied on the expert guidance of our state and local health departments and the Governor’s office. We’re encouraged by the willingness of our community to care for each other and confident this mandate will further reinforce the recommendations we’ve been providing,” said Mayor
Matt Murphy.
In support of the governor’s guidelines, Murphy reinforces that masks covering both nose and mouth should be worn by all residents eight years and older in indoor public spaces and outdoor spaces where six feet of social distance may not be maintained.
“We trust the schools to make appropriate policies for mask use on school properties and transportation services, based on the expert guidance they are receiving at both the state and local level. We also trust the community to adhere to these guidelines in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
We remind the community to continue washing hands, staying home if you feel ill and practicing careful hygiene of commonly used spaces,” said Murphy.
“We’re aware that Valparaiso residents have overwhelmingly been exercising caution since the start of this pandemic, listening to guidance and caring for each other. We’re confident in their continued vigilance. However, this mandate serves to further reinforce this ongoing guidance,” said Murphy.
