The City of La Porte has announced that chart-topping artist Uncle Kracker will headline this year’s LakeFest, according to Park Superintendent and LakeFest Committee Chair Mark Schreiber.
Known for hit songs like Follow Me and Smile, the artist will perform a free concert on Saturday, July 25, at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park. Two opening acts, which will be announced later, will kick off the evening.
Over the course of his career, Uncle Kracker has earned four albums on the Billboard Top 200 and achieved international success with Follow Me, which reached No. 1 in four countries. His double-platinum collaboration with Kenny Chesney also topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Combining elements of country, pop, rock, and hip-hop, Schreiber said the artist’s laid-back sound makes him an ideal choice for a summer concert by the lake.
“When searching for this year’s headliner, we wanted someone whose music captures the feeling of summer, and Uncle Kracker was a perfect match,” Schreiber said. “His catalog is packed with songs audiences know and enjoy, and we expect it to be a memorable night for fans of all ages. We’re looking forward to bringing the community together for an unforgettable evening at the lake.”
Although the amphitheater offers great views throughout the venue, Schreiber noted that a limited number of Premium Front Stage Passes will be available for attendees who want an up-close concert experience. Passes go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, through La Porte LakeFest. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
