I had never heard of a “Trunk or Treat” until I started doing Halloween Events in Northwest Indiana a few years ago. To be honest, I wondered if the idea was blasphemous to encourage trick or treating at a facility – sometimes a church, a Fire Station, or anyone with a parking lot! I found out quickly that it was an excellent outreach event to our community.
For those of you who have never heard of this or want to know more, then this article is for you! Trunk or Treat may be a great option for a Fall church party or carnival. It could be just the right family friendly outreach event. Folks Line up in a parking lot with their trunks open faced towards a center walkway. Their trunks are decorated and the patrons hand our candy to trick or treaters. Usually the Car and truck owners dress up in (Friendly) Halloween Costumes as well.
Businesses are encouraged to be “creative” and can give Mom and Dad an advertising novelty item as well. You can also view some trunk or treat decoration ideas on lots of Pinterest boards and all over the internet. Many of these events have hayrides, and bounce houses and lots of other activities. They also have competitions to see who has the best decorated trunk and who has the best costumes as well!
It’s a fun family event that makes Halloween a safe and happy event.
