The alumni of the St. Francis de Sales baseball program will be holding a tribute game in honor of longtime baseball coach Albert P. Lodl who passed away in March of 2020.
The festivities will be held on August 21, 2021 beginning with a pre-game social at 11:00 am held at St. Francis de Sales at 10155 Ewing Avenue, Chicago. The game between de Sales alumni and Illinois Select All Stars will be held at Oil City Stadium located at 1700 119th Street in Whiting Indiana. Gates will open at 1:30 pm with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm. A post game celebration will be held back at de Sales following the conclusion of the game.
Coach Albert Lodl was the varsity baseball coach at St. Francis De Sales for 34 years from 1965 to 1999. He won over 600 games in his career and is a member of both the IHSA hall of fame and the Chicago Catholic League hall of fame. In addition to coaching, Lodl taught biology for 41 years. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to St. Francis de Sales high school in honor of Albert. Tickets can be purchased at www.SFDSHS.org
