Tires
Check your tires for any signs of damage like dry rot or cracks. Is the tread in good shape? Does one or both of the tires need replacing? Worn treads make your bike more challenging to handle, so don’t overlook this important safety check.
Grab a tire pressure gauge and check the tire pressure. The pressure may be low after your bike sat in storage all winter.
Brakes
Before you take your motorcycle out, inspect the brakes thoroughly. Start with your brake pads for signs of wear and tear. Take them into a shop if they need replacing. Keep an eye out for leaks or cracks in your brake lines.
Test out the rear and front brakes to ensure they’re working correctly. Listen for any scraping, growling, or squealing. Take it to your mechanic immediately before getting your motorcycle out on the road.
Controls
Make sure your bike is road-ready by testing out the controls. Check the key controls, clutch, and steering because now is the time to address any issues.
Riding Gear
Don’t forget about looking over your riding gear. Inspect your helmet for compromising signs of damage, such as cracks. Replace it quickly if you find anything. Several manufacturers recommend replacing your helmet every five years regardless of its condition.

Battery
Make sure the battery is ready to go. Unless you had it hooked up to a trickle charger all winter, sitting in storage can drain a battery. Are the cables secured correctly? Are the terminals clean?
