Many people are looking for a side hustle because of the pandemic. Some people have taken to delivering food, while some creative minds have started their own Etsy shops. Here are some important things to consider when opening an Etsy shop.
Find Your Niche
There are millions of Etsy shops on the site. For this reason, you have to find your niche and see where you stand out. Perhaps you can create lanyards for nurses on the front lines. Those with good handwriting can make signs for people to hang in their homes. Do something that the site is missing so you have a higher chance of making a profit.
Addresses and Packaging
You must stay organized while developing your own Etsy shop. For starters, keep a running list of addresses and email addresses for your customers. This way, it’ll be easy for you to send things when they make another order. Email addresses are important to have, too, so you can contact someone if needed.
Once you get everyone’s addresses in order, it’s time to focus on the packaging. Make sure to get durable mailing envelopes that won’t rip during transport. Use strong packaging tape for bigger deliveries to ensure everything arrives safely.
Set Competitive Prices
Another thing to consider when opening an Etsy shop is to set competitive prices. As previously stated, you should check the site to figure out your niche. But you should also look at the site to determine competitive prices. Don’t overcharge because you could drive away potential customers. On the other hand, undercharging may not get you the profit you want.
Etsy is a great way to make extra money if you’re crafty. However, you should follow these tips before starting your shop to ensure everything goes smoothly. If you follow this advice, you can end up making a pretty penny.
