The Musical “Legally Blond” Comes to NwIndiana

Legally Blonde is the happy hit musical set to open in November at the Marian Theatre Guild.  The musical, which is based on the hilarious movie of the same name, features a cast of 22 singers and dancers who, according to director April Vargo,  are “incredibly talented.”

“They come prepared to every rehearsal.  I have actually never worked with a group who comes to rehearsal already knowing the material,”  she said.  “I could seriously go on and on about this group because we are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing cast!”

There will be many new faces as well as MTG favorites on the boards for Blonde.  Actors include Samantha Pacyga as Elle as well as Tony Vivacqua, Amanda Maloney, Larry Colgan, Ray Huntington, Jianna Bull and Kassidy Norman.  Choreographer is  Madeline Pigott with Valerie Cook as the show’s Musical Director.

Legally Blonde tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law to win back her ex-boyfriend.  She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others.  Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods who triumphs at the end because she never lost faith in herself.  The characters are upbeat, fresh and funny and there’s lots of singing and dancing.  It’s a show that’s for the whole family.

April said this is a show she’s been wanting to direct for a long time.

“This is a feel-good story about finding your way in life, figuring out what you’re meant to do, and where you belong,”  she added.

“The songs are ridiculously catchy, the costumes and sets are amazing, and the dances will keep you captivated.  This is a great break from the drama found in daily life and the world at large.  It’s a fun, feel-good production,” she said.

Legally Blonde run Saturdays November 4, 11, 18 and Sundays, November 5, 12, 19.  Saturday evening performances are at 8:15p.m. and a dinner/theatre packages are available.  Sunday matinees performances are at 3p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Auditorium,1849 Lincoln Ave, Whiting.
