The Best Fall Projects To Tackle for Your Home

The Best Fall Projects To Tackle for Your Home

Although summer has wound down and the fall is upon us, you may still have a list of improvements and home renovations you want to complete before the winter and holiday seasons come crashing down upon us. Like the spring, the fall is just as good a time to make some changes. Here are some of the best fall projects to tackle for your home.

Power Wash the Exterior

After a long summer of heat and humidity, fall is your best and last chance to give your home’s exterior a good power wash before freezing temperatures arrive. This will ensure your home is free of dirt, mildew, and mold while also refreshing your home’s appearance so that it’s ready to endure the winter. If you’re not familiar with power washing, it’s a good idea to opt for a professional rather than doing it yourself. Using the wrong power settings or solutions will strip off paint and potentially erode the foundation of your home.

Wood Repair

If the spring and summer seasons were especially humid, then one of the best fall projects to tackle for your home would be repairing the exterior wood of your home. This can potentially save you a lot more money in the future from repairing rotted and decayed wood that stems from the moisture of the warmer seasons. Wood damage may not always be completely visible, and a professional will be required to identify underlying problems that could potentially fester into something worse over the winter.

Refurbish the Pool

As you’re closing up your pool for the year, it’s a good idea to get it refurbished while you’re already cleaning it up. For example, if the pool tile is old, then it may be a good idea to have it replaced with new and fresh tile. This will ensure the integrity of your pool is not compromised and will update its appearance to be something more modern. This will also eliminate any grime, mildew, or mold that may have gotten in between the original tile.

Re-Caulk Windows and Doors

While drafty winds may not have been noticeable in the pleasant warmth of the summer, you’ll certainly feel them come winter. Now is a good time to re-caulk the windows and doors of your home to ensure moisture, cold, and fleeing critters and insects don’t find their way into your home. This will help save money on heating bills, especially, because the heat won’t constantly be escaping into the outdoors, nor will cold air continuously seep in.
