Sunset Hill Plans Fitness Color Run in May

Our very first big event of the year is coming up on May 7! You won’t want to miss the Fitness Color Run at Sunset Hill Farm County Park! Celebrate National Fitness Day with a fun run (or walk!) with friends & family.
Open to all ages and perfect for individuals and families! The Fitness Color Run will be a 5K course of the North Field at 8am on May 7. Run the course at Sunset Hill while volunteers toss colorful powder – lots of color and lots of fun! Learn more and register at portercountyparks.org/color-run.

The cost to register is $25 for adults and $15 for kids in advance. This includes the cost of a t-shirt that you will be able to pick up before the run begins. Register online at portercountyparks.org/color-run.

Day-of registration will be $30 per person and t-shirts are not guaranteed.

This park is kid friendly and dogs must be on a leash. During the normal summer months, there are restrooms available, but patrons are advised to leave no trace behind.  Since our visit was during May, it would probably be a good idea to bring bug spray, especially when there is a nice sized pond in the middle of the park.
Visitors can enjoy the park from dawn to dusk at Sunset Hill Farm County Park, which is located at 775 Meridian Road. Educators can also schedule a field trip for their students by calling the Porter County Parks naturalist office at 219-465-3641. More information about the Porter County Parks Department can be found at www.portercountyparks.org.

New Observation Deck at Sunset Hill Park

A new wetland observation deck at Sunset Hill Farm County Park is ready for visitors. Located on the northeast side of the pond, the viewing platform provides access for birdwatching and observing wetland wildlife. It will also serve as a place to provide educational programming about wetland plants and animals, which has become a popular topic of Porter County Parks programs since restoration of the pond began in 2014.
