St. Catherine Hospital, in coordination with its outpatient facility, Whiting Community Health Center, will launch a new Health Fair theme at the Whiting Family YMCA event Saturday, April 30.
“May the Health Force Be With You,” will be the message that will be conveyed through a series of galactic stops kids, teens and parents can make.
Health force exhibits and activities are planned at the YMCA, 1938 Clark St., Whiting, and the nearby Whiting Community Health Center, 1516 119th St., in downtown Whiting, from 9 a.m. to noon.
You can get your “Passport to Good Health” at the YMCA, check out exhibits there, and climb aboard a free shuttle to tour the health center. There, you can meet some of the doctors affiliated with the nearby Whiting Community Health Center and see what your neighborhood facility has to offer.
Health force stops include free blood pressure and body mass index screenings for visitors 18-years, and older. Fitness Pointe representatives will present kid-friendly FitTrip sessions on exercise and nutrition. Kids and parents can learn tips about safe backpack practices; car seat safety; foot care and sports injuries.
Galactic passes will be handed out for the journey. Those who complete stops at both places get a chance a win a FitBit, StarWars gear and fitness prizes. Shuttles will depart and return every 20 minutes from the YMCA.
