South Shore Poster Artist Mitch Markovitz Signing

Mitch Markovitz, Along the South Shore Line Artist, will be signing posters on Sunday, January 15 from 1-3 pm at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts. The newest poster, “View from Home,” will be available for purchase along with a variety of other posters sold in the South Shore Arts Gift Shop.

The South Shore Line Posters were originally developed from 1925-1929 and exhibited in train stations to entice viewers to travel to beautiful spots along the South Shore Line. This marketing campaign was reinstituted in 1997 with the ‘Just Around the Corner’ series. Markovitz has painted nearly 50 posters since 1997 depicting destinations, landscapes and events across Northwest Indiana. The series was created to encourage leisure travel to northern Indiana, increasing ridership as well as turning those leisure riders into daily commuters – focusing on the speed and ease of South Shore Line travel.

This event was coordinated in partnership with the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, which began management of the series in 2016. If you are interested in commissioning a South Shore Line Poster, contact Andrea Rivera at andrea@southshorecva.com.

The Center for Performing Arts is Located at 1040 Ridge Rd., Munster.
