Signs That You May Need To Replace Your Bathtub

How often do you think about your bathtub? Most of us give it a good cleaning every now and then, especially when company is coming to visit. However, when was the last time you thought about getting a new tub for your bathroom or performing any significant remodeling to your bathroom? Here are a few signs that you may need to replace your bathtub and how doing so can prevent long-term damage to your home.

Noticeable Cracks

One of the common things to watch out for is cracks or chips in your bathtub’s foundation. Differences in the water temperature versus your home’s temperature can lead to some damage. Smaller cracks are fixable with kits and sandpaper, but they’re not always the best long-term solution. If you’re tired of repairing these minor imperfections, it may be time to consider investing in a new tub.

Active Leaks

The largest sign that you may need to replace your bathtub is when you notice major leaks. Some leaks are much more noticeable since they pool onto your bathroom floor, but others may get into your wall, which can cause mold and mildew. If your tub is leaking and you can’t fix it with simple caulking, it’s a good idea to look into these steps to replace your bathtub.

Stubborn Stains

Not every sign that it’s time for a new tub may result in extensive problems that can damage your house or fill it with the foul odor of mold. Sometimes your once pristine white tub starts to show its age, and you may notice discoloration, fading, a gross yellow-ish tint, and some stubborn stains that won’t come out no matter what you do. It may not be the most damaging sign, but tub stains are not aesthetically pleasing and may be the first thing that makes you consider a replacement.
