Reasons To Let Your Teen Join Marching Band

Reasons To Let Your Teen Join Marching Band

Your child has quit everything they’ve ever started, and now they’ve come to you with marching band. Many schools have a band, and in the fall the marching season begins. If you’re considering letting your child join in the summer to start practicing, learn the reasons to let your teen join marching band.

Promotes an Active Lifestyle

Even kids that don’t think they are athletic can excel at marching band. It’s mainly about moving around the field in coordination with their teammates while playing instruments. It requires stamina and a strong diaphragm. The director and your teen’s peers will motivate them to stay in formation and keep up the pace.

Builds Community

The friends your teen makes at practice—especially during band camp—may become lifelong friends. When your teen joins the marching band, they’ll team up with a unique cast of people who will welcome them like family. Just like other teams, marching bands stick together, and it can be nice to have that support in.

Improves Brain Function

Playing a musical instrument helps with brain function, so your teen could end up excelling at classes unrelated to band. When helping them choose their first band instrument, consider that they may join marching band. Buy an instrument they’ll be able to use on the field as well as on stage to support their goals.

Provides Unique Experiences

Marching bands get to play at all sorts of venues. For instance, they’re expected at football games and parades. Small towns and cities love to see their local schools’ marching bands. Even small bands put out a great deal of impressive music.

You’ll be amazed at what your teen can accomplish when you let them follow their passions. Even if they want to be part of the color guard and be responsible for providing the marching band show more theme and story, they’ll enjoy many of these same benefits. The reasons to let your teen join marching band are so they can make friends, get active, and enjoy wonderful experiences they’ll never forget. When you support your teen’s dreams, you can be part of them.
