Saturday night’s (June 3rd, 2023) contest against the Elkhart County Miracle was another dominant showing for the Oilmen. After dropping the first three games of the season, the Oilmen have won two straight. The Oilmen gave up just five hits, allowing one run, and continued to find their groove.
The Oilmen have scored double digit runs in four of their last five games, winning Saturday Nights game 14-1. After coming in for Tyler Nemtuda in the third inning, Silas Noe pitched five innings, striking out 7 batters and not allowing a single run. Noe is the first Oilmen pitcher this season to pitch up to five innings in a game.
“Now everybody has gotten their feet wet as far as innings on the mound. There are some guys who haven’t been on the mound in close to a month. Now everybody has gotten experience, they are all good capable pitchers”, said manager Adam Enright.
The star of Saturday’s game was first baseman George Bilecki. Bilecki went 2-for-4, hitting a triple, a double, with 3 RBI’s to pair with his statline.
“I think it’s the product of the type of players we were able to recruit. [Oilmens players] They are used to a very fast paced schedule, and they are very well prepared for what this league offers them”, said Enright.
In addition to Bileckis strong performance, the Oilmen had five players with multiple hits, notably Chris Baker, Jayden Comia, Ryan Little, and Ethan Rossi.
As a team, the Oilmen average 9.6 runs per game, and have a +13 run differential, despite owning a 2-3 record in the early part of the season.
The Oilmen play their first home game of the summer this Wednesday, June 7th with a rematch against the Elkhart County Miracle at 7:10 p.m.
