NIPSCO Extends Disconnections to May 15th, 2026

Partially due to the many protests and meetings that have taken place in Northwest Indiana, NIPSCO has extended their Standard Disconnection time to May 15th, 2026. Normally the customers on the budget plan will owe their outstanding balance on March 31st, and face disconnection. However, that deadline has been extended.

NIPSCO claims to be, aiming to support customers facing high energy costs. The extension pauses shutoffs, allowing customers extra time to set up payment plans or apply for assistance programs and that the the move addresses rising utility bill concerns and provides relief for customers struggling with payments.

Customers are advised to use this time to contact NIPSCO to set up payment arrangements to avoid potential disconnection after May 15.

Financial Assistance is ONLY Available to those who have lower than $20,000 per person in income per household.

Citizens Action Coalition and the Nipsco Monolopy Madness Organization are hoping for more public input regarding rising energy bills for Indiana residents and a long term solutions, instead of just a minor delay.
