New Portage Library Garden Project to Open in May 2024

For many, many, months, folks at the Portage Library have had to deal with some construction on the north side of the library with a closed front entrance. Now, that’s all going to change! There is a NEW LIBRARY GARDEN that is finally finished.

The grand unveiling of the Portage Library Garden will reveal a lush, inviting space designed for the community to come together, learn and grow. A breathtaking garden that stands our as a testament to what can be achieved together. This Soon to be lush oasis was brought to life through the collective passion, hard work, and dedication of various teams, each contributing their own unique skills and tireless effort.

Made possible by financial support from the City of Portage’s Redevelopment Commission, City Council, the Porter County Council and Commissioners, the Porter County Auditor, as well as public sponsorship opportunities. After the success of the initial Rotary Library Garden, the Porter County Government is also allocating ARPA funding to supporting PCPLS as they provide community gardens at all of our branches.

The Portage Library is thrilled to extend a warm invitation to the Portage community for a very special occasion – the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of our New Portage Library Garden! This beautiful addition to the library is not just a garden; it’s a testament to the love, support, and dedication of our community. It’s a space where nature meets knowledge, and tranquility meets togetherness.
