The Northwest Indiana Oilmen will continue their long-standing tradition of recognizing those who have served our country as Military Appreciation Night returns to Oil City Stadium this season, presented by Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana.
The Oilmen will celebrate America and America’s pastime as part of Independence Day Weekend as the Lake County Corn Dogs visit Whiting on Saturday, July 1 for a 7:10 p.m. first pitch.
The Oilmen will team up with Indiana Fallen Heroes again this season to pay respects to those who have given their lives to protect our freedom.
“It is an honor for our organization to be able to once again partner with Indiana Fallen Heroes to help us honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” Oilmen President Don Popravak said. “Our Military Appreciation Game is always a memorable and moving night that gives us the chance to celebrate those who have served our country. I would like to thank Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana for helping make this event possible.”
The Oilmen previously partnered with Indiana Fallen Heroes in 2019 and 2022. The organization, which was started as a school project at Boone Grove Middle School, aims to honor the Indiana servicemen and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country.
Indiana Fallen Heroes creates placards of each fallen hero. Each placard contains a picture and a biography of an individual. The organization travels the state with those placards participating in various events to help raise awareness and honor the fallen heroes.
“What makes this night special is the fact that we get to honor veterans who are with us and those who have passed since 9/11,” Indiana Fallen Heroes President Paul Rosenwinkel said. “Honoring them in any manner is what we’re all about. We want to make the general public aware that our freedom is not free and there is a price that has to be paid. We can never repay those soldiers or their families for their loss.”
Tickets for the Saturday, July 1st, 2023 Military Appreciation Night are available now on NWIOilmen.com.
