Microsoft to Build a New Data Center in Laporte – 1 Billion Dollar Investment!

Northwest Indiana will soon be home to another massive data facility.

Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) announced Tuesday morning that Microsoft will build a $1 billion data center in LaPorte designed to bolster the company’s growing cloud computing infrastructure.

The 245,000 square foot facility will be constructed at the Radius Industrial Park and will accelerate cloud computing infrastructure and support growth in artificial intelligence. The facility will meet the growing needs for cloud computing capabilities and artificial intelligence.

The data center is expected to create up to 200 new jobs by the end of 2032.

“Indiana is committed to being a central hub in the global economy of the future, and this latest announcement ensures Hoosier communities and talent will be key to widespread advancements in cloud and artificial intelligence technology, ” stated Gov. Holcomb.

“As a state, we’ve built a pro-growth business climate and implemented a future-focused framework to attract major investments in high-tech, high-growth sectors” the governor continued.

La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody described the Microsoft project as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

“What makes this even better is that we get to work with the talented and community-minded team at Microsoft,” Dermody said. “From the very beginning of this project, they have been committed and attentive to the needs of our community. We are incredibly excited to welcome them here and look forward to a strong collaboration long into the future.”

Mayor Dermody for recognized the efforts of Bert Cook for working with him every day and the time and detail he has put into this project over several long months. The community should be thankful to have Bert’s  talent and resolve on our City of Laporte Team! This project is for the greater impact on our community. “this is a Billion dollar investment, “ stated Bert Cook.

“Microsoft is excited to expand our datacenter infrastructure into Indiana, with our first campus to be built in La Porte,” said Bowen Wallace, Microsoft CVP Datacenters, Americas Region.
