On Thursday, August 13th, 2020, Mayor Parry extended his Executive Order to keep Washington Park, Fedder’s Alley and Senior Center closed due to Covid-19. In addition, he has ordered the temporary Closure of ALL BEACH ENTRANCES from Stop 2 through Stop 13 due to the large crowds that continue to congregate on the Lakefront violating Social Distancing and Facial Covering Mandates from Governor Holcomb and the LaPorte County Health Department.
The Washington Park Zoo remains open by appointment only, and subject to visitors complying with social distancing, facial coverings and CDC Guidlines.
Mary Parry’s extension goes into effect at 12:01 am on Friday, August 14th, 2020 and will conclude at 11:59 on THRU THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER as decided by the Michigan City Common Council.
The beaches were first closed on July 23rd, and have been closed off and on since then.
