It’s St. Patrick’s Day every day at McGinnis Irish Pub in Michigan City, Indiana. You’ll find a authentic Irish food with corned beef and cabbage and all the fixins.
It’s not too often you’ll find some vegetarian friendly items at an Irish pub – like an veggie burger or a burger with Irish White Cheddar Cheese! In a quaint older building with lots of charm and a patio with gas fireplace, McGinnis also has a separate bar area with nice selection of beers and TV’s. The draw is the Irish dishes adapted from Terry’s mother’s recipes including Irish soda bread, corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, and bangers and mash. Unique Appetizers like the Irish egg rolls (corned beef and cabbage egg rolls) and dan-o-fries (loaded french fries) are also very popular.
Composer, Keenan Baxter, Performs Original Celtic Music on Keyboards
When we visited on St. Patrick’s Day, patrons enjoyed Celtic like you’ve never heard before, from local composer, Keenan Baxter from Valparaiso, Indiana. Keenan artfully layers harp with bag pipes, accordion, strings, fiddles, atmospheric vocalese and an Celtic undercurrent for an intriguing fusion of old and new.
Although Keenan is not from the homeland of Ireland, nor is he Irish, he began composing his own Celtic songs about ten years ago. Keenan’s a sensational Celtic composer from Valparaiso and created his own Celtic album ranging dynamically from the most sensitive and touching Irish songs to hard-hitting reels and jigs.
