Indiana hoosiers get walkin app from purdue university

Mayor Anthony Copeland’s 5k Run/Walk – East Chicago

East Chicago is hosting a 5k Run/Walk Saturday, October 15th. We are encouraging residents to show support to the runners and walkers that will be trekking through your neighborhoods beginning at 9:00 a.m. The 3.1-mile run/walk should last no longer than 2 hours.

The course is flat and fast, beginning at Carrie Gosch School, to go through McShane to Tod Park,  go through Central High School and finish at MacArthur Golf Course.

Last time we held a race, runners, and walkers from all over Northwest Indiana visited our city as they participated in our event, and many were very impressed with our neighborhood support and enthusiasm. Many neighbors went outside to greet and cheer them on. I hope that many of you take the opportunity to do the same this year. Our goodwill goes along way.

If you would like to participate in this year’s race, you can register at the Parks & Recreation Office at 1615 E. 142nd Street East Chicago, IN 46312 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or online. There is an early registration fee of $25 with a goodie bag and T-shirt available to those who register by Friday, October 12th.  Registration fee after the deadline is $35 with T-shirt while supplies last. Children under 14 years fee is $20.

Registration & packet pick up begins at 8:00 a.m. Race begins at 10am.
