**** Recommended **** Four leading ladies of soul – Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and Nancy Wilson – are Black Ensemble Theatre’s “Dynamite Divas: A Tribute to Women of Soul”. If you’re looking for a show that’s pure musical fun, then this is the one for you! The talent level on that stage is nothing short of phenomenal. The music is fabulous, the story not so much, but I liked “Dynamite Divas” so I’m giving it 3 ½ Spotlights.
“Dynamite Divas” runs through January 24th at Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street, Chicago. Running time is 2 hours, 30 minutes with an intermission. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm; Fridays at 8:00; Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00; and Sundays at 3:00. No performances December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st. Tickets range from $55-$65.
