It is 2021 and life is coming back to the way we know it. As a retired firefighter, Ricardo Suarez, has always been on his feet. After the 2020 slowdown, Ricardo was ready to get going, “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now”! With that said he is continuing his quest of earning the Six Star World Marathon Medal, a goal he set back in 2017.
To earn this medal, a runner must complete the Chicago, Boston, New York, Tokyo, London, & Berlin Marathons. Ricardo knows this is a lofty goal, however the self-fulfillment he receives on this journey has been over the top. For the Chicago and New York Marathons, he ran with teams for some amazing organizations raising over $30,000 collectively.
In October 2021 he will be running in the 125th Boston Marathon and donating his proceeds to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation (for autism). This is exciting for many reasons, first he will be able to help so many deserving families that live with Autism every day. Second, Ricardo is glad to be running again after all the cancelations in 2020. Lastly, the excitement is in the air, so many people are eager to see good things happening!
This year he has teamed up with the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism in honor of his nephew, Hunter Hogan. He chose this amazing foundation because they focus on Living Life to the Fullest, encouraging development, happiness, and self-fulfillment for all that live with autism. Currently, autism affects 1 in 68 children in the US. His goal is to raise at least $9,000 to support the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation.
