The LaPorte Municipal Airport (KPPO) is a general aviation airport, home to 75 private and corporate aircraft. The airport’s location is convention short drive to Lake Michigan beaches, Notre Dame, local Casinos, and more. The airport features 24/7 self-serve mogas and 100LL, and fuel trucks for 100LL and Jet A.

The airport has a long history in LaPorte County. In 1920 local resident, Elmer Bulingame designed a monoplane (just 10 years after the infamous Wilbur-Wright flight.) In 1920 the first plane owner was a JN-4D Curtis by-plane, owned by Frank Kemp in LaPorte. In 1930 the airfield was located on the Ridgeway Farm just south of Laporte. In 1945 the city of LaPorte took ownership and increased land development and built the first two hangars. In 1958, the first paved runway was installed which comprised of 2,500 feet by 60 feet to be later extended to 4,400 feet in 1985.
Over the years, many more improvements have taken place over the 478 acres to comprise today’s 5,000 foot runway, ramp expansions, a private hangar, lighting, taxiways, a certified Flight simulator, Aviation Camp and STEM events.

Each year the airport sponsors events to help connect with the community. Last year, they held Scairport for Halloween, they hold a summer camp for youths and a monthly “lunch on the fly” as well as other special events, speakers and warbirds.

The airport may be contacted by phone at 219-324-3393 or visiting laporteairport.com. The airport is located at 2341 IN-39, La Porte, IN 46350.
