Lake County Eats Locally

Lake County Eats Local is back for a second year! The 2020 farmers market season will include both land-based and mobile markets running from June through October. We are excited to announce collaborations with Methodist Hospitals – Northlake Campus, ArtHouse: A Social Kitchen, Sons of Amvets and Healthlinc East Chicago. You can also follow them on Facebook for the latest updates.

The communities, designated as food deserts in Lake County, lack sufficient access to nutrient-dense fresh fruits and vegetables. The Lake County Eats Local program will establish farmers markets in the Gary and East Chicago neighborhoods and work to build market capacity in order to create permanent and sustainable food access for residents. Local farmers will be invited to sell their produce within Lake County and through smart innovative, collaborative programming, increase their revenue.

These markets is that we accept EBT/SNAP services so that people can make healthy choices with their SNAP funds. (219) 671-3310.
