**** Recommended **** Kokandy Productions is rapidly earning a reputation for outstanding work. Their new production, “Heathers: The Musical”, is no exception. The story, based on a cult classic film from the ‘80s, might not be your cup of tea, but the talented cast will reach out and pull you right in. The music sounds pop light, but the lyrics are wickedly clever. “Heathers: The Musical” is well worth seeing. I give it 4 Spotlights.
By the way, Kokandy Productions has connections to Northwest Indiana. Executive Producer Scot Kokandy, a banker by trade, used to work at Citizens Financial Services (now known as First Merchants Bank) in Munster. Co-Artistic Director John Glover was a Professor in the Communications Department at Purdue Calumet.
“Heathers: The Musical” runs through April 24th at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago. Running time is 2 hours, 10 minutes with an intermission. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm; Sundays at 3:00; additional performances on selected dates and times. Tickets are $38. Valet parking is available.
