Fun Facts . . .
Along with contributions from fans, the Elvis FANtasy Fest | TCP Memorial Benefit Fan Club commissioned a commemorative marker that holds a time capsule containing notes of remembrance submitted by Elvis fans.
This marker also recognizes Presley’s last concert at Market Square Arena on June 26, 1977, and was originally placed along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail in 2002 on the concert’s 25th anniversary. The marker was moved for safekeeping during the construction of 360 Market Square, a 28-story Flaherty & Collins complex with apartments and businesses. Flaherty & Collins Properties and Kay Lipps from Elvis FANtasy Fest joined together for the rededication at the luxury apartment tower on June 26, 2018 — the 41st anniversary of Elvis’s performance at the now-demolished Market Square Arena.
The marker includes a Paul Lipps photo of Presley wearing his “Aztec Sundial” jumpsuit at that final 1977 Market Square Arena concert. It now sits at:
320 E Market St, Indianapolis, IN 46204
The time capsule, which will be opened on June 26, 2102, includes:
- Fan letters
- A cassette recording of the final concert
- A Graceland catalog
- A book of Elvis tour photos taken by well-known Elvis photographer Keith Alverson
