“I Do Today” is Confusing, Contrived and Interminably Long

* Not Recommended *  I wanted to like “I Do Today”.  I really did.  Carin Silkaitis was engaging and very likeable, but the script was all over the place.  It was confusing, contrived and way too long.  The performance began 10 minutes late, it was really, really warm in the Upstairs Studio at the Greenhouse Theater Center, and there’s no leg room.  About half way through, I found myself completely zoning out.  “I Do Today” gets 1 Spotlight.

“I Do Today” runs through October 9th at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln, Chicago.  Running time is 75 minutes, no intermission.  Performances: Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm.  Tickets range from $34-$48.  Parking is available in the Lincoln Garage (formerly the Children’s Memorial Hospital Garage) about a block and a half north of the Greenhouse.  2-4 hours will run you $10.  Metered street parking can also be found.  FYI (773) 404-7336 or www.greehousetheater.org.
