Discover the untold, spooky side of Michigan City history. You’ll be surrounded by darkness as you tour the mansion with a guide; there’ll be tea lights to illuminate your path. During this eerie evening, we’ll tell little-known stories of our city’s creepy past and relate never-before told stories about the mansion.
The ghost of Diana of the Dunes, the haunted lighthouse, ghost trains, even Barker Mansion itself: local folklore has fascinated the people of Michigan City for decades. The eerie autumnal season is the perfect time to dive into the history of Michigan City legends with the Barker Mansion’s Private Blackout Tour: Myth, Lore, and Legend.
This is a new take on the classic Barker Blackout Tour: the lights are off but the stories are new, safely socially distanced. Tealights and glowsticks will illuminate the darkened rooms as each private tour group is guided through the mansion.
“This is more than just ghost stories,” explains Historical Interpreter Lillie Magers-Pershing. “We are all fascinated by things we can’t explain. This tour will focus on those stories and how they came to be.”
A great evening to look at the City’s History with Spooky twist. The 7pm tours are for families and 9pm tours are for adults only (ages 16 and up).
Advance group tickets are required for the event, walk-ups are not permitted. Tours will be offered on October 23, and 24, with timed entry tickets every 15 minutes from 7pm to 9:30pm.
