With Inflation heading our way, here’s some ways for you to Save Money or for those who like to be prepared, these Household Tips are amazing. Here’s some things your grandma used to do.
HOME HEALTH REMEDIES:
Lemon Juice helps a sore throat, add it to your hot cider or hot tea. Lemon Juice also strengthens immunity.
Apple Cider Vinegar can prevent colds. Adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, or real lemon juice, to a glass of water helps to alkalinize the body. Creating an alkaline environment helps kill bacteria and viruses. Start drinking it at the first sign of illness and repeat several times a day until the symptoms subside.
Coconut Oil Improves thyroid Function and reduces migraines. I personally put coconut oil in my coffee, make it taste good! Castor Oil relieves menstrual cramping and induces labor. Apple Cider Vinegar will help reduce high blood pressure – 3 tablespoons a day can lower blood pressure.
CLEANING SUBSTITUTES:
Lemon Juice is great for cleaning glass and mirrors and it also brightens your toilet bowl. Baking Soda will clean your oven or grill and will also clean toilets and bath tubs. Coconut Oil will polish wood furniture. White Vinegar will polish silver. White Vinegar will also help unclog your drain. Castile soap cleans floors.
White vinegar cleans shower doors – Grab a spray bottle and fill it with equal parts of grease-fighting dish soap and white vinegar. Spray your glass doors, and rinse it with warm water after 20 to 30 minutes. Dry the surface with a microfiber cloth.
Use White vinegar as a General Cleaner – Mix four cups of white vinegar with four cups of water and add one tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray dirty surfaces as needed.
White Vinegar & Baking Soda Fights Hard water Stains – Pour 0.5 cup of baking soda into a bowl and add 0.25 cup white vinegar until making a paste. Apply it to the shower doors, rub the paste with a cloth, let it work, and rinse it after about 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse all paste thoroughly with warm water and dry the glass with a microfiber cloth. Use this combination as an excellent solution against hard water stains.
Ammonia for Glass & Window Cleaning: Pour ammonia and water in a ratio of 1 to 3 into a spray bottle. Spray it over the soap scum surface and let it sit a half an hour. Try to loosen dirt with a coarse scrub brush while it is still wet. Rinse the glass until removing all the ammonia and dry it with a microfiber cloth. Don’t forget to open the window or turn on ventilation since the ammonia odor is awful and strong. Plus, wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.
Furniture Polish: 1 cup olive or jojoba oil, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 3 to 4 drops lemon essential oil (optional)
BEAUTY REMEDIES:
WRINKLES: Coconut Oil Prevents Wrinkles. Can be used both topically and internally. I personally put coconut oil in my coffee, make it taste good! Coconut Oil is a Lip Gloss!
Lemon juice also helps reduce wrinkles. It’s recommended to cut and juice one fresh lemon every morning for a period of time for this to work.
Also Castor Oil strengthens eyelashes, relieves cracked heels, and softens cuticles.
HAIR BEAUTY TIPS:
Baking Soda can be used as a shampoo. Dissolve 1 tbsp of baking soda in 1 cup of water. Pour it over your scalp and give your scalp a good massage. Rinse with water.
Apple cider vinegar is also a good Hair rinse afterwards. Mix a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water. After shampooing and conditioning, pour the mixture over your hair evenly, working into your scalp. Let it sit for a couple of minutes
Coconut oil makes a great leave-in Hair Conditioner that hydrates and protects your hair all day. Apply a pea-sized amount to the ends of your hair, but don’t wash it out. Apply once or twice a week. For best results, use coconut oil as a conditioner 1-2 times a week.

Lemon juice will also lighten your hair. Squeeze fresh lemon juice and add it to a spray bottle along with a teaspoon of oil to keep your hair from drying out then go outside and let the sun do the rest.

Apple Cider Vinegar Repels Fleas. Castile Soap is a pet shampoo.
DIGESTION:
Lemon Juice improves digestion. Squeeze the juice from one whole fresh lemon into a cup of hot water and sip slowly. The hot water will help to flush out your system, and the lemon helps break down food, easing the work of the stomach acids.
Baking soda is used to treat heartburn. Dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda into 8 ounces of water and drink it, it can neutralize stomach acid and temporarily alleviate heartburn caused by acid reflux.
White Vinegar will help an upset stomach – mix one cup of warm water with one table spoon apple cider vinegar and one table spoon of honey.
Laxative – Castor Oil is used as a laxative. Castor oil works very quickly. You should see results within two to six hours after taking it. Because castor oil works so fast, it’s not a good idea to take it before bedtime, as you might do with other laxatives. Add three tablespoon of medicinal/food grade castor oil to a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, mix and drink up fast. Wait for half an hour. Like any stimulant laxative, castor oil shouldn’t be taken in the long term
LAUNDRY:
Apple Cider Vinegar Deodorizes Laundry. Also Pure baking soda is an effective alternative for commercial laundry detergent.
Three-quarters of a cup of baking soda cleans a full load of laundry. This can be a costly alternative, so it is best used as a temporary substitute until you purchase your regular detergent.
For a long-term substitution, you can easily make a homemade laundry detergent with baking soda, a bar of soap and water.
Melt bar soap in a pan with just enough boiling water to cover. Stir until the soap is completely melted. In large pail or bucket, pour in two gallons of hot water. Add the melted soap. Add the baking soda, and stir well. Use 1/2 cup per load, or more for oversized or very soiled loads of laundry.
SKIN CARE:
Apple Cider Vinegar Can be used for sunburns and acne. Also use it as an Aftershave! Lemon juice shrinks pores. Baking soda will relieve diaper rash. Apple Cider Vinegar helps treat acne. White Vinegar soothes bee sting as well. Castile soap treats eczema, psoriasis and cures acne. Castor Oil relieves cracked heels and dry, itchy skin.
Here’s one that will help out older folks – did you know that lemon juice removes sun spots!
COOKING TIPS:
Baking Soda makes fluffier omelets and crispier chicken. White Vinegar tenderizes meats, helps boil eggs and keeps veggies fresh.
KITCHEN TIPS:
Lemon Juice can disinfect your cutting board and counter tops. Apple Cider Vinegar cleans your microwave. Castile soap is a dish soap and mops floors. Castor Oil lubricates kitchen scissors.
Cleaning the Dish Washer: For a homemade option, place a glass measuring cup filled with two cups of distilled white vinegar on the top rack and run a normal cycle without detergent or dishes.
SAFETY TIPS: Baking Soda can be used to put out fires.
PERSONAL HYGIENE SUBSTITUTES:
Baking soda can be a deodorant. Apple cider vinegar helps with yeast infections. Castile Soap is a body wash.
GARAGE:
Coconut Oil will replace WD-40. Fill an 8 ounce spray bottle with one part water and three parts sunflower oil, coconut oil or olive oil. Shake to mix. Or another WD-40 alternative recipe is to combine 90 percent vegetable oil with 10 percent acetone.
DENTAL HEALTH:
Lemon Juice can be used to brighten your teeth. Baking soda cleans teeth. Mix a few drops of water with a half a teaspoon of baking soda to craft a paste. Once you have a paste, apply it to your teeth using a toothbrush or your fingers. Leave on for approximately two minutes and rinse with water. Castile Soap is also a toothpaste.
FRAGRANCE:
White Vinegar eliminates Garlic Odor.
GARDENING:
Castor Oil reduces pests (such as moles) in the garden. Apply weekly directly to the soil.
