**** Recommended **** Robert Falls has assembled a stellar cast for the Goodman Theatre’s new production of Anton Chekov’s “Uncle Vanya”. I’ve never been a Chekov fan, but I think a part of my dislike goes back to the stilted English in most translations. Although “Uncle Vanya” is a comedy, a lot of the humor gets lost in translation. Annie Baker’s more relaxed adaptation lets the humor shine through, although I sometimes wonder if the term Russian comedy is actually an oxymoron. I enjoyed “Uncle Vanya”. 4 Spotlights
