Free Concerts At Hard Rock Cafe – NwIndiana

Northwest Indiana’s Newest Entertainment Venue at the Hard Rock Casino, The Hard Rock Cafe, is offering free concerts inside this land-based Casino. 21 and over, Located just south of 80/94 off Burr Street Exit.

These take place on either the Hard Rock Café stage or on the stage in the Council Oak bar (locations noted on schedule below). Seating is first come first served. 219-228-2383. Located at 5400 W. 29th Ave., Gary, IN 46406

 Mike Wheeler Band – has traveled the world as an ambassador for Chicago blues music.  Mike was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame in 2014.

      DJ Maurice Joshua – Council Oak Bar Stage – 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Maurice Joshua is a Grammy Award winning producer, a songwriter, and a DJ. Known as the Remix King,

 Super Diamond – Neil Diamond Tribute – delivers a tribute to the much-loved international pop icon Neil Diamond – most recognized 80s tribute band in the United States. 

     American English – Hard Rock Café Stage  renowned Beatles tribute. 

            Ronnie Baker Brooks – son of Chicago Blues legend Lonnie Brooks.  

        Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter who has quickly become the defining blues.  

 Admittance to the Casino is free, concerts are free. Hard Rock Cafe is located in the center back of the Casino. Council Oak Bar is located off to your left after entering the Front Entrance.

AUGUST 12, 2022  Old Grand Dad – Council Oak Bar Stage – 8 p.m.

Old Grand Dad is an ethylene soaked trio from Chicago, Illinois. Bred for rockabilly, these freaks have started sneakin’ out by the light of the moon to taste the rest of the “Devil’s music.” California bass man Cody “Goose” Siragusa and Hoosier drummer deluxe Danny Lee Beasley shared a love of the old man’s music and a serving job in Wrigleyville; enough said. Their duet turned trio with guitarist and North Avenue homeboy Colin Brennan, a bastard of city and country but Irish enough to break a string each night. Road tested and dancer approved, OGD is an all-singing, all-writing, washer pitchin’ electric hayride on fire.

 

Made in America: A Tribute to Toby Keith – Hard Rock Café Stage – 9 p.m.

We are America’s most authentic tribute to the BIG DOG DADDY himself, Mr. Toby Keith. Our eleven-piece band recreates the energy, look, and feel of a Toby Keith concert. We perform 50+ shows annually throughout the United States. Chicago music scene veteran Paul Wenzel portrays Toby and has been honored to receive the award for Best Country Music Performer at the Chicago Music Awards. Paul is hailed as America’s most convincing Toby Keith tribute artist by members of Toby Keith’s Easy Money band! Made In America also features a horn section that has toured with the likes of The Ides of March and Ray Charles to name a few. Keith Jackson and The Triple Dose Band – Council Oak Bar Stage – 8 p.m.

Northwest Indiana is known for a stomping ground for many highly acclaimed artists and “The Triple Dose Band” keeps that list going. Making their debut in 2001, these highly talented musicians met doing a jam session in Hammond, Indiana. As a very versatile group, their performances lean towards the genre of variety music allowing them to satisfy the desires of all their listeners. The founder of “The Triple Dose Band”, Keith Jackson, first cousin to Michael Jackson, was greatly inspired by legendary artists such as: Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, The Winans Family, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Jackson 5, and Marvin Gaye. Such inspiration led to the song choice for the demo that was recorded live in a studio. Each member of the band has his own claim to fame. They all have performed with greats such as: Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5, The Chi-Lites, Tyrone Davis, The Staple Singers, Chicago, The Winans, Yolanda Adams, Dawkins & Dawkins, Gene Chandler, Artie “Blues Boy” White, The Ohio Players, Fishbone, Slave, Louis Johnson, and Tony Toni Tone, to name a few.

Vino Louden is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame Inductee born in the small town of Hayti, Missouri. Since fronting his own band, Vino Louden Band has played venues locally and abroad, including Buddy Guys Legends, Hollywood Bowl, Windy City Live, House of Blues, Chicago Theater, and in Brazil, France, and Japan. He has recorded with Jimmy Johnson, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Otis Clay, Martin Scorsese Film and his own CD Vino Louden Live. Vino also acts as the bandleader of the “the Queen of the Blues” Koko Taylor. Also, he has worked with acts such as John Lee Hooker, B,B, King, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, Led Zeppelin, Jim Belushi and the Blues Brothers. Vino is currently preparing an acoustic/electric project.

Kelsey Waldon – Hard Rock Café Stage – 9 p.m. NEED High Res Photo

On her new album, White Noise/White Lines, Kelsey Waldon captures the rugged country sound of her touring band without sacrificing the intimacy of her songwriting. Waldon is native of Monkey’s Eyebrow, Kentucky, who took an interest in singing, songwriting and playing guitar as a child. After moving to Nashville, she cultivated a loyal following through frequent touring across the U.S. and released two critically acclaimed albums. Her persistence paid off when, on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, John Prine invited Kelsey to join his Oh Boy Records family. White Noise/White Lines released October 4, 2019 on Oh Boy Records. White Noise/White Lines was included in NPR Music’s Best of 2019 roundup, as well as Garden & Gun, The Fader, Paste, Stereogum, and The Bitter Southerner’s best of/year end lists. Rolling Stone named one of the album’s singles, “Kentucky, 1988” as their #1 country and Americana song of 2019 and NPR Music likened the track to Loretta Lynn’s “Coal Miner’s Daughter” noting that in this song, “Waldon pinpoints the rustic people and place she comes from.”

After 55 years on the local blues scene, Tillmon serves up the blues and soul standards that people never seem to stop craving, his rich vocals and fluid guitar backed by a band that keeps his grooves tight and right. He joined forces with bassist Tom Rezetko, and they’ve been inseparable onstage ever since. Kate Moss shares guitar duties with Tillmon. Drummer George Baumann completes one of the Windy City’s toughest blues combos, one that’ll keep you smiling from ear to ear.

This self taught master was influenced by many of history’s true guitar pioneers including – Albert King, Jimmy Reed, Wes Montgomery, and Jimi Hendrix. He has appeared on the same ticket with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, George Benson, Buddy Guy, and BB King. Melvin is a prolific composer, producer and recording artist, in addition to being a seasoned live performer who has entertained audiences around the world with his virtuoso guitar style and breathtaking solos. His love of music shines through as he crosses over many genres mixing fluid jazz, blues, rock and soulful styles that create his unique sound. Melvin continues to thrill and entertain audiences around the globe.
