At the June 8th meeting, the Footlight Players membership voted into officers and of Directors for their 72nd theatre season. The President-Chris West, Vice President-Laura Meyer, Secretary-Bobbi Ann Lauritsen, and Treasurer Bill Wild, will be joined by the three General Board Members, Thom Nelson, Janice Rice, and Jill Thomas to govern over the membership.
Their 72nd season of shows include STEEL MAGNOLIAS in September directed by Jan Rice.
Denise Barkow will direct THE MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISON STREET, their holiday show set to be on stage in November.
JERRY’S GIRLS a musical revue of Jerry Herman classics, like Mame, Hello Dolly, and La Cage Aux Folles, directed by Laura Meyer will be the first show of the new year in February.
Followed by DRINKING HABITS, a hilarious new comedy directed by Dee Piotrowski will appear in April, 2022.
The season will end in June with the long anticipated production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC directed by Debbie Bartholomew, 2022.
The theater has plans to put on an adult workshop of a brand new script, I DON’T BELIEVE WE’RE IN KANSAS ANYMORE written and directed by Robert W. Komendera in late September and a new playwright’s production of LA CASA DE LOCOS, penned by Michael J. Thomas in early December, 2022
The Footlight Players has strong connections with the local community and constantly offers award winning entertainment to our area as well as offering free children’s workshops and a $1,000.00 Robert W. Komendera Acting Scholarship available to the county’s high school seniors.
The theater is located at 1705 Franklin Street in the heart of Michigan City and meet every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM. They are always on the look-out for new members.
